Service Advisor – Fleet Maintenance Balzac, Alberta Shift: Monday–Friday | 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
About the Role We are seeking a motivated Service Advisor to join our fleet maintenance team in the Calgary area. This role is ideal for a local candidate who understands the pace and expectations of a high-volume heavy-duty shop and enjoys being the key point of contact between drivers, technicians, vendors, and operations. You will play a critical role in ensuring our fleet stays road-ready by coordinating repairs, managing road call activity, and maintaining strong vendor relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary liaison between drivers, fleet operations, technicians, and external vendors
Open, manage, and close repair orders with accuracy and urgency
Diagnose and translate driver complaints into actionable work orders
Provide repair estimates, timelines, and approvals
Coordinate and manage road calls, ensuring timely response and resolution
Work closely with external vendors and service providers to ensure quality and cost control
Build and maintain strong, long-term vendor relationships to support fleet operations
Prioritize workflow to maximize shop productivity and minimize equipment downtime
Monitor job progress and communicate updates proactively to all stakeholders
Ensure all work meets compliance and safety standards
Support preventive maintenance scheduling and follow-ups
Maintain accurate documentation of labor, parts, and repairs
Reports Directly to the Maintenance Manager
Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years experience as a Service Advisor, Service Writer, or similar role
Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers (diesel, air systems, PM programs)
Experience handling road calls and vendor coordination is required
Previous experience in fleet or commercial trucking environment strongly preferred
Strong understanding of vendor management and service accountability
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Proficiency with maintenance software / work order systems
Familiarity with Alberta CVIP / compliance requirements (asset)
