Summary

Interact with partner carriers to ensure the highest level of service and capacity while also achieving margin targets.

Responsibilities

1. Carrier Relations

  • Grow and develop our carrier base with partners that meet or exceed our criteria and compliance standards.

  • Continuously expand the carrier network.

  • Develop a strong understanding of partner carrier networks to maximize their effectiveness.

  • Create new CRQ/CAC entries and monitor FCA/FSC updates.

  • Monitor and audit the Daily Activity Report screen on a daily basis.

  • Lead rate generation and capacity sourcing for sales quotes and RFPs.

  • Vet and onboard new carriers using a series of online tools.

  • Obtain timely and accurate updates from carriers to ensure detailed information is shared with shipper reps.

  • Analyze carrier performance monthly and implement strategies to improve underperforming partners.

  • Monitor and process EDI updates.

  • Progress high-performing carriers from transactional to core status.

  • Support shipper logistics planners with KPI reports and action plans.

  • Collaborate with carrier reps in other offices.

2. Corporate Responsibilities

  • Provide market rate information to support rate proposals.

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure successful order completion.

  • Ensure all tasks align with corporate strategic objectives.

  • Uphold the company’s core values, specifically: LEAD WITH GRACE.

3. Measurement Responsibilities

  • Ensure data integrity in all aspects of order management (e.g., system notes, appointment times, complete load sheets).

  • Verify carrier data accuracy before closing orders (e.g., wait times, extra charges).

  • Maintain margin targets.

  • Confirm proper load acceptance.

4. Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain flexibility with work hours, including availability for after-hours calls.

  • Support and substitute other team members as needed

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient with relevant computer programs (e.g., Excel, Load Link).

  • Strong knowledge of North American geography and market rates.

  • Experience with the container business.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Bilingual in English and French.

  • 5+ years of industry experience.

  • Curious, eager for new challenges, and committed to continuous improvement.

  • Strong customer service skills and professionalism.
